Unsure whether it’s worth your money to purchase an ionic air purifier? Maybe you feel as if the air in your home is plenty clean, and that ionic air purifiers are really a waste of money?  The American College of Allergies begs to differ. According to them, 50% of all illnesses are either caused, or at least aggravated by polluted indoor air. The Environmental Protection Agency says that indoor air can be two to ten times more hazardous than outdoor air. Not only that, but the EPA declares that indoor air quality is actually our number one environmental health problem. Not water pollution. Not smog. Indoor air. Newer homes can be more dangerous than older homes as they are built air tight. This means that no matter how little air pollution you think is in your home, it’s been building up since the home was built. Since these buildings are air tight, the natural air-cleansing agents such as negative ions and ozone are locked out, while contaminants a locked in the home for you to breathe. In super-insulated homes, which are designed to be more eco-friendly by reducing energy usage, allergen levels are 200% higher than normal homes. The fact that they’re air-tight could very well work in their favor with the addition of an ionic air cleaner. After the ionic air purifier cleans the air, it won’t be able to exit the home nearly as quickly as those older homes, nor will it be as quick to become re-contaminated.

Think you and your family are safe since you don’t smoke? Well, Scientific America says that a baby crawling about on your floor will inhale the equivalent of about 4 cigarettes per day, just from molds, mildews, dust mites, fungi, and the outgassing of the carpet itself. As your family probably spends well over 90% of their life indoors, the indoor air is going to have a far greater impact on their health than the air outdoors. An ionic air purifier would clean all that air that you breathe so much of your life, dramatically improving yours and your family’s health.

The EPA also says that over half the homes and buildings in the United States are what they deem “sick”. This means that, due to airborne pollutants, they are actually hazardous to your health. Imagine how much healthier you would be with an ionic air purifier. Remember when asthma was rare? The indoor air is the reason it’s become so much more prevalant.  Ionic air purifiers just may be the answer.
