Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier

Not every room needs a standard sized ionic air purifier.  If you’re wanting to clear the air in a smallish room, either in your home or office, the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier might be a good choice for you.  Not only will it use less space, which is obviously already limited in small rooms and offices, but it’ll also use less power.  Since there’s no way for ionic air purifiers to sense when their job is done, they’re intended to be run 24/7.  If you’re running an ionic air purifier that’s larger than it needs to be, you’re wasting power all day every day.  One of the best things about ionic air purifiers is that they are cheap to run and maintain, so be sure you don’t negate that advantage by getting one that’s too big.

Checking prices at various retailers (WalMart, Amazon, etc), you’ll notice that the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier runs about half the price of standard Ionic Pro Air Purifiers, or the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier.  So, if you’re not sure if your room qualifies as “small”, which is typically anything less than 500 square feet, you could always get one Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier and, if it doesn’t feel like it’s doing the job, get another, and put them on either side of the room.  Honestly I’m not sure that that wouldn’t be more effective that one Ionic Pro Air Purifier anyway.  It seems to me that filtering from two different places, with twice the air-flow, would be preferable.  However, you’d have to make space for two ionic air purifiers instead of one, so that might be a problem for some people.

With the exception of a missing “Med” setting (it has a Lo and Hi only), the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier lacks none of the features, or benefits, of the regular Ionic Pro Ionic Air Purifier.  Just be sure to clean the little bar off when it starts to buzz, and that’s the extent of any maintenance, just like with the Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers.  However, one huge difference between the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier and the Ionic Breeze Air Purifier is that you can actually find the Ionic Pro.

Remember, ionic air purifiers are not intended for use in situations where there’s a real health risk.  If a doctor has suggested that you use a true HEPA air purifier, this is not a direct replacement, and is not as effective.  For your everyday allergy sufferer, though, an ionic air purifier should do the trick at a much, much lower cost than a true HEPA air purifier.

Where Did All The Ionic Air Purifiers Go?

Ever since The Sharper Image shut down, ionic air purifiers have been rather hard to come by. The Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Air Purifier was the first publicly available ionic air purifier, and was certainly the most popular. Well, The Sharper Image is back, but it can still be rather difficult to find any ionic air purifiers. Here are some alternatives that you may want to to consider.

Ionic Pro Ionic Air Purifier

Although the name may not be as popular yet, the Ionic Pro seems to have taken over as the king of ionic air purifiers. Will it last? Who knows. The cat is out of the bag as far as efficiency, and pretty much everyone knows that ionic air purifiers, while cheaper and quieter, are not as effective as HEPA air purifiers. The people that buy ionic air purifiers nowadays do so because they want a silent solution with no maintenance. Therefore, the Ionic Pro Air Purifier shouldn’t be in for the same drop in reputation that killed the original Ionic Breeze.

Generic Ionic Air Purifiers

Straight out of China (or wherever), there’s a ton of ionic air purifiers that can be had with no branding on them, usually for a good price. Good luck claiming on any warranties, though, should anything go wrong. Still, I would assume that they would work just as well as anything with a brand name on it.

Ionic Air Purifiers With Fans

You sacrifice the silence, but still keep the filter-free maintenance, all while increasing efficiency enough that Consumer Reports approves them. Sounds like a good bargain to me, if you can find one that’s not prohibitively expensive.

Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers

That’s right, they’re still out there, even if they are a challenge to find. There’s even multiple variations on the original, such as the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier and the Ionic Breeze GP Air Purifier. Most reviews for these come two to three years ago, but there are still some places selling them as new. And, regardless of what Consumer Reports said about the Ionic Breeze, customer reviews are generally quite favorable. It’s hard to tell if The Sharper Image is still producing the Ionic Breeze with any name or variation, though, since it’s not listed on their website.  As most searches for the Ionic Breeze come up with the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier, which went into production in 2003, well before The Sharper Image went bankrupt in 2008, I’d assume they’re no longer produced at all.

HEPA Air Purifier

You could always go the HEPA route. Keep in mind, True HEPA Air Purifiers have been around for a long time, and they’re the only thing used in sensitive fabrication environments and laboratories. They can, however, be quite noisy and expensive to maintain.  Click here for more information about HEPA Air Purifiers.

Car Air Purifier

Looking for a car air purifier? There’s lots of options out there to choose from. The purpose of a car air purifier is to clean the air of your car. If you don’t think the air in your car is dirty, you’re insane. Consider how much dust and dirt gathers on your floor mats in a month’s time. Do you really think everything that enters your car is heavy enough to settle somewhere? No, there’s plenty floating around, so there’s plenty of use for a car air purifier, just like there’s plenty of use for ionic air purifiers in the home and office. Also, if you’re an allergy sufferer, you could be breathing some of the most contaminated air in your car. Newer cars have filters in them, but that only covers their AC system, which is generally air coming in from outside of the car. All the air inside the car is left as it was, filled with allergens and irritants. If you own an older car, then everything that comes in the AC system goes straight into your lungs. This includes pollen, dust, and exhaust fumes from all the cars around you. Add to this the very limited amount of space in your car compared to even your home and you can see how this could quickly become a problem. Unfortunately, the big, nice ionic air purifier you bought for your home can’t help you once you’re in your car or truck.

Besides, if you own an ionic air purifier at home or work, then you’re already spoiled to having nice, clean, odor-free air. A car air purifier costs a fraction of the price of a normal ionic air purifier, making it a great buy.
