Ionic Pro Ionic Air Purifier

Although the name may not be as popular yet, the Ionic Pro seems to have taken over as the king of ionic air purifiers. Will it last? Who knows. The cat is out of the bag as far as efficiency, and pretty much everyone knows that ionic air purifiers, while cheaper and quieter, are not as effective as HEPA air purifiers. The people that buy ionic air purifiers nowadays do so because they want a silent solution with no maintenance. Therefore, the Ionic Pro Air Purifier shouldn’t be in for the same drop in reputation that killed the original Ionic Breeze.

Generic Ionic Air Purifiers

Straight out of China (or wherever), there’s a ton of ionic air purifiers that can be had with no branding on them, usually for a good price. Good luck claiming on any warranties, though, should anything go wrong. Still, I would assume that they would work just as well as anything with a brand name on it.

You sacrifice the silence, but still keep the filter-free maintenance, all while increasing efficiency enough that Consumer Reports approves them. Sounds like a good bargain to me, if you can find one that’s not prohibitively expensive.

Ionic Breeze Air Purifiers

That’s right, they’re still out there, even if they are a challenge to find. There’s even multiple variations on the original, such as the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier and the Ionic Breeze GP Air Purifier. Most reviews for these come two to three years ago, but there are still some places selling them as new. And, regardless of what Consumer Reports said about the Ionic Breeze, customer reviews are generally quite favorable. It’s hard to tell if The Sharper Image is still producing the Ionic Breeze with any name or variation, though, since it’s not listed on their website.  As most searches for the Ionic Breeze come up with the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier, which went into production in 2003, well before The Sharper Image went bankrupt in 2008, I’d assume they’re no longer produced at all.

HEPA Air Purifier

You could always go the HEPA route. Keep in mind, True HEPA Air Purifiers have been around for a long time, and they’re the only thing used in sensitive fabrication environments and laboratories. Let’s take a look at exactly what causes the air flow that makes these pollutants come by a ionic air purifier in the first place. Every particle of material and veritably every air molecule near the intake of an ionic air cleaner. Nearby, stainless steel cleaning plates are creating an opposite charge, drawing those air particles forward. As the air rushes toward the cleaning plates, what is called an ionic breeze is created, and constantly sustained for as long as the ionic air purifier is powered. Pollutants in the air such as pollen, smoke, chemicals, animal dander, and even odors are smeared against the stainless steel cleaning plates and will remain there until they’re wiped away about every two weeks. Lighter molecules, such as air molecules, cruise through the area of the cleaning plates and drop their charge as they blow back into the room. The result is clean, pure, pollution free air that you’ll be glad that you’re breathing, not to mention your family and any company you may have.  All due to your ionic air cleaner.

To appreciate the ionic air purifier, you’ll really have to witness it for yourself. It really is quite amazing how something without a fan can create a breeze. Not only that, but see with your own eyes just how much crud you would’ve been breathing had you not had an ionic air cleaner. For this reason, most sellers of the ionic air purifier will happily let you try one for a limited time. If you’re not satisfied, a good retailer will simply refund your money, except for the shipping and handling, of course.  Oh, and they’ll want their ionic air purifier back.

Searching for an ionic air purifier will most likely bring up the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier, or the Ionic Breeze GP Air Purifier.  As far as features and ability to clean the air, they seem to pretty much match the original Ionic Breeze Air Purifier.  Although you can find them being sold as new, neither of these are currently produced by The Sharper Image, so you may want to steer clear.  Alternatively, you can check out the Ionic Pro Air Purifier, which is currently sold by the independent company, Ionic Pro, LLC.
